Sometimes we get preoccupied with life and can't see the forest for all of the trees.
I created Pilgrims Passing Through to encourage my Christian brothers and sisters to keep our eyes looking upward and not get bogged down with the pursuit of more and more stuff and the search for "happiness". True joy comes from knowing Jesus, not how much we have or how busy we are.
Joy
Joy is not brought about by circumstances that are easy. The Lord's joy is a thing deep within our soul that defies what's going on around us. When we are willing to be honest with ourselves, we have to admit that none of us have great circumstances all the time. Daily, we deal with relationship stresses, worry about our kids, health issues, financial trouble, job problems... the list goes on. If you are depending on a change in the wind for your joy, life will disappoint you over and over again.
...and not get bogged down with the pursuit of more and more stuff and the search for "happiness"
The Pursuit of Happiness
In our culture today the pursuit of happiness is an endless race we run from the moment our feet hit the floor to the moment we drop into bed at the end of our exhausting day. Afterall, it is an American dream. "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" What more could anybody want?
There is So Much More
Finding Joy in the Lord is the true pursuit we should strive for
Take this journey with me and let's find the joy of the Lord. Joy doesn't come from the house we have, the car we drive, or the money in our bank account. He promises that His joy is our strength. Finding joy in the Lord is the true pursuit we should strive for. As we dig into God's Word together, each of us will draw closer to Christ and grow in Him. We will grow in maturity and joy.
Let's Begin This Lifelong Journey
If you're feeling overwhelmed or just plain defeated, I want you to know that there is an answer. His name is Jesus. And He will never leave you or forsake you. Hebrews 13:5 Stop chasing more and more stuff. It is an empty pursuit. It might feel good for awhile but it does not satisfy. It leaves a gaping hole in your soul. Only He can satisfy our longings and deepest desires.
Come back often for encouragement in this life journey that we all walk.
